The SCEE fellowship programme is designed for engineering educators from low- and middle-income countries who have high potential for leadership in their discipline and with an outstanding and proven record of excellence in engineering education.
We want to empower visionary education leaders to educate safer, more innovative engineers where they are most needed.
We aim to create a network of safety champions in engineering education to improve the quality of teaching and learning in engineering education institutions through adoption of (new) technologies, pedagogical approaches and partnerships that will enhance safety and sustainability in engineering practice in the areas of the world which are most in need.
Objectives
Our objectives with this programme are threefold:
- To facilitate peer-to-peer learning on implementing reforms, partnering with stakeholders, and influencing actors to effect change in their education systems.
- To create an international network of safety champions in engineering education that share effective practice for improving engineering education which encourages safety and sustainability in engineering practice.
- To support novel approaches to Engineering Pedagogy and educational reforms which tackle safety challenges and enhance availability of engineering skills where they are most needed.
The Programme
The SCEE programme is designed for engineering educators from low- and middle-income countries who have high potential for leadership in their discipline and with an outstanding and proven record of excellence in engineering education. The successful participant will take part in a three-year Safety Champions in Engineering Education (SCEE) fellowship programme:
Phase one: Attend an eight-week collaborative peer-to-peer learning virtual programme to learn and share best practices of contemporary approaches of engineering pedagogy, advanced education leadership, and organisational management approaches to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
Phase two: Six-months of remote mentoring support to practice what they learned during the eight-week programme and to develop a project proposal for seed funding.
Phase three: Funding of up to £50,000 (12- to 18-month projects) for projects that aim to enhance engineering education capacity, safety standards and infrastructure that remains safe and fit for purpose.
Phase four: A £10,000 SCEE Champion Prize that acts as a convening mechanism to engage all SCEE participants and the wider engineering community to focus on enhancing skills for safety and sustainability.
